This page lists confirmed changes to PlainZIP data handling, redirects, and methodology surfaces. We record only changes that can be checked against a commit, an ETL refresh, or a documented editorial action. It is not a live feed of every ACS or FHFA figure update; for ZIP home-price year-over-year movement, use the HPI changes hub.

August 9, 2026

  • Reviewer-facing citation chassis. Added CiteThis (APA/MLA + CC BY) and PageTrustFooter stamps on identity, search, listing hubs, dashboard/scorecard, compare, rankings/tools, and research surfaces so a reader can cite the page they are viewing.
  • Retired ranking URL aliases. Six impressed archive ranking stubs now 301 to honest successor rankings instead of soft-404ing.
  • Public changelog + corrections alias. Shipped this page and a /corrections redirect to the corrections process on the editorial policy (distinct from the FHFA /changes hub).

August 8, 2026

  • Temporal change layer. Shipped FHFA HPI /changes with ChangeBand leaders computed from adjacent stored years (not authored movement).
  • ZBP refresh path. ETL ZIP Code Business Patterns download made reproducible with a safe source-refresh path for establishment counts.
  • Stale freshness claims removed. Source-file and footer refresh dates aligned to real ACS/ETL vintages so pages no longer assert an outdated compile date.

July 2026

  • Entity peer placement. ZIP detail pages now place income against a statewide ZIP peer (for example “average Iowa ZIP”) rather than a vague state average.
  • Timezone attribution fix. Timezone pages corrected to name the real source dataset for their figures.

Reporting a possible problem

If a figure looks wrong, use the corrections process or email hello@plainzip.com with the page URL and the number in question. We verify reports against the Census Bureau (or other named) source, correct confirmed issues at the data layer, and add a dated entry here when the change is published.
